The News

  • Los Angeles-based Coco announced yesterday that it has expanded its robot delivery operations to Austin, Texas.

  • The company says it will expand to Dallas, Houston and Miami in the coming months.

  • Coco is the second robot delivery service in Austin now, alongside Refraction, which is headquartered in that city.

The Story

We’ve known that Coco is expanding beyond its L.A. roots for awhile now. The robot delivery startup has raised close to $100 million dollars, and Coco said it would begin its nationwide expansion when it signed a manufacturing deal with Segway last December.

Now we know it’s first stop is Austin, Texas, which is interesting because that’s where Refraction AI and its REV-1 delivery robot are headquartered, setting up a sidewalk vs. bike lane delivery robot battle royale. (For more, check out the OttOmate Market Guide to Sidewalk Delivery Robots)
