Dexai's Robot Alfred Signs Up for Military Food Service
Alfred uses utensils like tongs and ladles just as a human cook does.
The News
Dexai Robotics’ hook is that its articulating arm uses the same utensils and tools that a human cook would, thus, according to the company, making it better at replicating meals people are used to.
Dubbed “Alfred,” Dexai’s robot is flexible, capable of making salads and bowl foods, grilling steaks and scooping ice cream.
Alfred recently became the first food robot installed on a military base, and is now making pre-packaged salads at Travis Air Force Base in California (hat tip to Stars and Stripes).
I really wanted to make a “Dexai’s Midnight Runner” joke in here somewhere, but come on, Eileen, I couldn’t make it work.
The Story
When I saw an article in the Stars and Stripes over the break about the Dexai Robotics’ “Alfred” being the first food robot on a military base, it piqued my interest for a couple reasons.
