Dexai's Robot Alfred Signs Up for Military Food Service

Alfred uses utensils like tongs and ladles just as a human cook does.

The News

  • Dexai Robotics’ hook is that its articulating arm uses the same utensils and tools that a human cook would, thus, according to the company, making it better at replicating meals people are used to.

  • Dubbed “Alfred,” Dexai’s robot is flexible, capable of making salads and bowl foods, grilling steaks and scooping ice cream.

  • Alfred recently became the first food robot installed on a military base, and is now making pre-packaged salads at Travis Air Force Base in California (hat tip to Stars and Stripes).

  • I really wanted to make a “Dexai’s Midnight Runner” joke in here somewhere, but come on, Eileen, I couldn’t make it work.

The Story

When I saw an article in the Stars and Stripes over the break about the Dexai Robotics’ “Alfred” being the first food robot on a military base, it piqued my interest for a couple reasons.
