Piestro Dumps Kiwibot for Serve

Piestro Partners with Serve for Fully Automated Pizza Experience

Piestro announced this week that its robot pizza vending machine will work with Serve Robotics to provide customers with an end-to-end automated pizza buying+delivery experience.

From the press announcement:

When a customer places an order, Piestro’s scheduling system will notify Serve’s fleet and the nearest available robot will pick up the pizza for transport from a Piestro pod. The partnership will roll out in the coming months, as Piestro deploys units within Serve delivery areas.  

The announcement goes on to say that a Serve Robot can fit up to four Piestro pizzas in its cargo bay (yum!).

The release doesn’t get into the mechanics of the whole thing. Presumably people order via mobile app (Piestro’s or one of its co-branded partnerships) and Piestro’s machines will be outfitted with some kind of chute that gets the pizza out of the kiosk and into the Serve.

Thankfully, this is a problem that Piestro’s engineers have been thinking about for a while…
