Stand and Deliver! Could Swiss-Mile's Quad/Biped Transformer Transform Food Delivery?
Swiss-Mile's robot could improve accessibility in food delivery.
Chances are if you’re an OttOmate reader, then you follow a ton of robot related people on Linkedin. So you’ve probably seen the video posted above float through your feed (hat tip to Takayuki Yamazaki on Linkedin.)
In it, a robot transforms from a fast-moving, four-wheeled robot into a bi-pedal robot that stands on two “legs.” All that’s missing is the orrrnh-orrrrnh-eeee-arrr-oorrrnnhh sound of Optimus Prime as he shift into truck mode.
The video shows Swiss-Mile’s ANYmal robot performing a number of agile maneuvers. The video itself is titled “Advanced Skills through Multiple Adversarial Motion Priors in Reinforcement Learning” and was part of a presentation given at Nvidia’s GTC2022 conference.
While it’s neat to watch the robot navigate stairs and elevators(!), what struck me most was how this quad/bipid robot could improve accessibility in food delivery.
