Starship Expands into Finland with Alepa Partnership

First deliveries start today from six stores in Espoo.

• Starship announced today that it has expanded its robot delivery service to Finland, where it will be making grocery deliveries for the Alepa grocery chain. Starship will also be expanding its R&D center in Helsinki, which helps design its robots.

• Six Alepa stores in the city of Espoo will begin offering robot delivery starting today, with this initial deployment of 60 robots servicing 8,000 households in the coming weeks.

• Starship now operates in the U.S., U.K., Germany, Denmark, and Estonia with a rapidly growing fleet of nearly 2000 robots.

The Story

Typically when I write about a Starship expansion, it’s about their robots rolling another U.S. college campus — not an entirely new country. Granted, 60 robots servicing 8,000 homes isn’t huge, but it’s a start. And unlike here in the U.S., Starship isn’t facing as much delivery robot competition in Europe.
