The News

  • Delivery robot company Starship announced it has raised a $42 million Series B round of funding. Investors include NordicNinja, Taavet+Stenn, TDK Ventures and Goodyear.

  • The new funding comes less than 30 days after Starship’s €50M capital infusion from the European Investment Bank, bringing the total amount raised by Starship to more than $100 million. The company has raised $202 million in total.

  • Starship’s big warchest will put some pressure on delivery robot rivals such as Kiwbot, Serve and Cartken as they all come to market.

  • Fun Fact! Starship says it has completed more than three million autonomous commercial deliveries in total. And at Oregon State University alone, it’s doing 1,000 deliveries a day.

The Story

Well. Starship has certainly had a busy first quarter of 2022. The delivery robot company announced today that it has raised a $42 million Series B round of funding that comes less than a month after the company received €50 million (~$56.4M USD at the time). For those of you bad at math, that’s more than $100 million Starship now has to bolster its warchest.

But the story here is less about Starship, and more about what its fundraising spree means for its competition.
