The Frying Game

English robotics startup Karakuri announced it was getting into the automated frying business later this year with its new FRYR robot. MCA Insight (reg. required) was first to report the news and Karakuri CEO Barney Wragg confirmed it with OttOmate this morning.

Karakuri’s aptly named FRYR robot is newsworthy on its own, but it’s also worth mentioning because working the fry station is becoming the go-to, go-to market for restaurant robots. Miso Robotics, Lab2Fab and now Karakuri all have frying robots now.

Most of us know Karakuri for its Semblr robot, which is a self-contained “canteen” robotic kiosk that holds 17 hot and cold ingredients, and uses an articulating arm to assemble a variety of meals. The Semblr can serve 110 meals per hour and allows for customization of ingredients down to the gram.
